We understand that there are lots of things you might want to change and improve around the house but it’s impossible to get to them all at once.
Here at TopMark Cleaning, we have put together a few simple tips that will make a big difference without blowing your budget.
Swap curtains for blinds
Forget about dusty, dreary drapes that clutter up windows and replace with them blinds. With so many options for modern blinds on the market, you can create an elegant, creative and unique space in every room. These simple window solutions will subtly improve any room without becoming the focal point of the space. Did you know you can have blinds printed with your favourite photographs? This is great for children’s bedrooms and playrooms.
Consider using carpet tiles
Before you conjure up images of ugly school classrooms and dowdy office floors, carpet tiles have come a long way in recent years. A fantastic solution for spaces that see a lot of wear and tear- utility rooms, playrooms and kid’s rooms could all benefit from carpet tiles. They are not only affordable but come in a range of colours so you can create borders around rooms, patterns and playful colour gradients. They also have the added benefit of being replaceable when they are worn out, saving you money in the long term.
Make a beautiful entryway
This space is crucial for welcoming guests into your home. It is also going to set the tone for how you feel when you walk through the door every day after work. If you have a cluttered hallway full of stinky shoes and damp coats blocking the way like some sort of mini assault course, it probably isn’t going to lift your spirits. Clear as much space as possible by insisting your family can have one coat out at a time.
Put summer coats are in wardrobes through the winter months then it clears the space for bulky waterproofs. Use a simple shoe storage device- these don’t have to take up too much space, and you can get slim versions for cosy hallways and larger ones when space isn’t an issue. Use a small console table and hang a mirror above it. This creates the illusion of more space and added light. You can further brighten up the area and keep it smelling fresh by using a pot plant or flowers.
Give your radiators a fresh lick of paint
Sometimes you can feel bored with a room but be unsure of how to redecorate. Time and money is always a factor but this simple trick can bring a new lease of life to a room. Most rooms have radiators and you can add a pop of colour by painting yours. Simply sand and clean the radiator and buy specialist radiator paint to fix it up. Dark colours will create a subdued and mellow atmosphere while bright colours will cheer any room up.
LED Strip Lights
This modern phenomenon in lighting has mostly been seen in night clubs up to now. However, they don’t always have to pulsate in time to the music in tacky neon colours. LED strip lights are made up of lots of little LEDs close together in a transparent strip. Usually supplied with remote control, they can be adjusted from warm to cool light, with a variety of different colours available. Fit above dado rails or on top of your bookshelf for ambient lighting. And what’s more- they are eco-friendly!
Carpets and upholstery
Cleaning your furniture and carpets is another great way to improve your home without it costing the earth. Replacing carpets can be very expensive but having your carpets and upholstery professionally cleaned will not only enhance their appearance but provide a really deep clean- right down into the pile- leaving your carpet looking great and your room smelling fresher.
